Welcome to the website of Professional Golfer, Emily Talley!
The 24-year old, Northern California native, is currently playing in her second year on the Symetra Tour, the official qualifying tour for the LPGA. Because she earned her full A status on the tour, she is planning on competing in every Symetra event across the country as well as the LPGA Shoprite in Seaview, NJ which she won the exemption into by means of Big Break NFL.
Emily is going to be quite busy with this 20 tournament season but the ultimate goal is to make as much money as possible to put her in that top-10 ranking on the season ending money list to ensure her full card on the LPGA for the 2015 season!
Emily originally hails from Napa, CA but jumped over a few states back in 2008 to Colorado to attend University of Colorado at Boulder on a full golfing scholarship. She still splits her time between California and Colorado in the offseason but is looking to make the move to Northern California next fall due to the need to play golf year round, she loves the snow but her golf clubs do not!
After graduation from the University of Colorado with a major in Communications and a minor in History, Emily turned professional at the Monday qualifier for the LPGA Canadian Open. With her boyfriend on her bag she successfully qualified for her first professional event. Quite an exciting “coming out” into the professional world. Emily then participated in the 2012 Qualifying School and qualified all the way through the final cut in the final stage and came just short of earning LPGA status but did gain her full card on the Symetra Tour for the 2013 season.
Emily’s rookie season on the Symetra Tour was a success in more ways than one. She saw her skills as a golfer develop faster than she expected and her ability to handle nerves and pressure improved dramatically in just one season. Emily competed in 13 tournaments throughout the season and only missed three cuts. Her best finish of the year came in the second to the last tournament with a 9th place finish at 7-under par. It was her first top-10 finish on the Symetra Tour and her lowest 3-day score for a tournament. Emily ended her rookie year on a great note and is excited to keep it going in 2014!
During the offseason Emily spent most of her time in Boulder working on her strength and her golf game with her college coaches, Anne Kelly and Brent Franklin, and also bothering her boyfriend as best she could! She ventured out to Florida a few times to play in pro-ams as well as take part in the 2014 PGA show and back to Napa to see her family and also work with Tara Lipanovich at Silverado Resort. To top off the winter, Emily spent a couple weeks following Christmas in Oslo, Norway visiting her boyfriend and his family and to get some great cross country skiing in. Overall, Emily had quite the relaxing break from the competitive schedule but that really got her excited to get back out on the course to prepare for the 2014 season!
